Mesmo que não nos identifiquemos com os princípios industriais que prezam pela execução exata de produtos idênticos, não há como negar a beleza de uma dobra precisa ou de uma lombada bem costurada. E sempre haverá os renegados para o nosso deleite. Quando não é possível a individualização por meios de carimbos meticulosamente tortos, tentamos trazer o gesto através  da linha ou do corte sobre a matriz lenhosa.

/INDUSTRIAL: Even if we do not identify with the industrial principles that value the exact execution of identical products, there is no denying the beauty of a precise fold or a well-sewn spine. And there will always be renegades for our delight. When individualization by means of meticulously crooked stamps is not possible, we try to bring the gesture through the line or the cut on the woody matrix./

Quando a Regina me chamou para fazer este projeto eu estava em plena preparação para a segunda parte da Hoferweg e para a exposição do Atelier Martel. Mas era irresistível criar as xilogravuras que iriam dialogar com as peripécias peripatéticas de Hui Neg em busca da iluminação.

A proposta foi criar um desenho contínuo dividido em 10 matrizes de 10x15 cm. A partir desta paisagem cíclica que incluía casa tempo floresta e cozinha sob um geométrico céu de diamante, a Regina extraiu brilhantemente os fragmentos que permearam os texto.

/When Regina called me to do this project, I was in full preparation for the second part of Hoferweg and for the Atelier Martel exhibition. But it was irresistible to create the woodcuts that would dialogue with the adventures of the Hui Neg in search of enlightenment.

I decided to create a continuous drawing divided into 10 matrices measuring 10x15 cm. From this cyclical landscape that included house time, forest and kitchen under a geometric diamond sky, Regina brilliantly extracted the fragments that permeated the text./

Eu conheci a Bea numa situação inusitada em que praticamente morei na casa dela por duas semanas durante a montagem de um cenário de opera. Quando nos encontramos para eu apresentar o projeto da Hoferweg levei os desenhos que havia realizado durante uma caminhada em NYC (ver DRAW_ América).

Incisiva que é, me falou, Quero seus desenhos para ilustrar meu próximo livro.

Eu sugeri criar uma serie de Des-ilustrações, isto é os desenhos tangenciariam os temas das crônicas de maneira mais direta ou mais abstrata, abrindo portas para novas relações entre texto e imagem. Os desenhos foram feitos a partir de objetos que encontrei em pela instigante casa de Bea e Pepe, refletindo as andanças pelo mundo contido no livro numa lenta caminhada pelos ambientes repletos de histórias.

/ I met Bea in an unusual situation where I practically lived at her house for two weeks during the montage of an opera stage design. When i visited her to present the Hoferweg project, I took the drawings I had made during a walk in NYC (see DRAW_ America). Incisive that she is told me, I want drawings of her to illustrate my next book.

I suggested creating a series of Des-illustrations, that is, the drawings would touch the themes of the chronicles in a more direct or more abstract way, opening doors to new relationships between text and image. The drawings were made from objects I found in the intriguing house of Bea and Pepe, reflecting the wanderings through the world contained in the book in a slow walk through the environments full of stories. /
